I wish I could lose weight, but diets don’t work for me! I need to exercise more, but I can’t find the time! I can’t seem to get started on this paper; I need to get started, but just can’t get moving!
We all have heard the previous statements and many others similar to this.
Did you notice that each of these goals also have a negative statement following it? As long as we keep these negative thoughts in our mind, we will never have success. Our subconscious mind hears what we say and believes it. We need to remember to always tell ourselves positive statements.
How to focus on today and the future
Let go of the past, think only of today and the future.
Plan what you want to do and write it down. Start a new journal to keep track of your progress. If you don’t know what you truly want, then you will not recognize it when you get it. Be very specific in your goal. Plan on how you are going to reach your goal and get excited about it. Take one step at a time, start at the bottom of the ladder, and work your way up.
In addition to working on your specific goals, take care of yourself.
Eat a healthy diet. Take time to exercise. This will not only make you feel physically better, but it will increase your endorphins and you will feel happier. Make a list of three people that you admire and strive to imitate them. Get enough sleep. For those of us lucky enough to do it, a nap in the afternoon is wonderful. Take time to focus on others by volunteering. It will make you feel good.
If you feel the need, seek a professional, such as a trainer, a nutritionist, or a therapist. Be grateful for what you have and take responsibility for yourself and your future.
We need to realize how important we are to ourselves.
Some people have developed the mistaken idea that it is wrong to think of themselves as being the most important person in the world. Of course, you wouldn’t want to go around telling everyone that you are the most important person there is, but you are important. There is nothing wrong in living your life acknowledging your own importance.
