We are about to go into a new season, yes, summer is coming. It is time to make changes in our lives. Perhaps it’s just the change of clothing or the activities we get involved in but they are changes that affect us.
But there can also be big changes.
How comfortable are we with reinventing ourselves?
Sometimes we need to be uncomfortable at first to take the first step.
Perhaps we tried in the past and failed and on an unconscious level we have doubts of future successes. Take a moment to think and make a list of everything in your life that is perfect and a second list of things you would like to change if you knew how. I imagine these lists are not equal.
Look at the list of changes needed, are there people you know that you admire and you would wish to be like?
Imitation is a form of flattery.
Be honest would you really like to be in their shoes. Does your life just need a little “fluffing”, to be better? Think of your life like a living room. A couch, two chairs, end tables and so on but bare. When you start to put knick knacks, pillows, books and pictures the room is transformed.
This is what we should do with our lives make small personal changes.
Get out in the sun, (especially in the morning), do an activity that is fun, it could be as simple as going to a park and watching the children play or go shopping and buy a new outfit or sports equipment. Schedule some time each day to just be YOU. Learn to appreciate who you are, your accomplishments and talents. We are all unique.
“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old but on building the new.”
How much time and energy do we expend resisting change because we feel it will be painful? This can be in our homes, business, social life even our churches.
The following is a well known prayer by an unknown author.
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
